3D digitalization is a technology that allows the avoidance of the traditional way of preparing and tool production. Also, this technology reduces the time to get the final product and decreases its final price. 3D digitalization technology was established for the first time in the midst of the 90s from the last century.
3D digitalization technology is based on digitizing (3D scanning) of hand–made models, preparing a CAD model from the scanned points (points of cloud), analysis, numerical simulations, design and production of tools for the models.
For the process of digitizing, there exists a special equipment which contains: light projector, camera and interface between the camera and the computer.
The biggest and the most famous world wide producer of the equipment for 3D digitalization technology is GOM mbH.

On the picture the Atos II model of camera is present, which is one of the most advanced products of this company. This model is characterized with very big precision (till 2m), measure volume from 135x108x108 to 1700x1360x1360 and big mobility which allows for the digitalizing of large objects which can’t be digitalized in the laboratory conditions. Having this equipment can be considered a big privilege, knowing the fact that on the territory of South Eastern Europe it’s been used only in Macedonia and in Slovenia.
The usage of 3D digitalization technology is enormous, starting with its usage in mechanical engineering, through architecture and art, medicine, and it can also find its place in all areas of every day life.
In the mechanical engineering the use of 3D digitalization technology is most manifested in the tool design technology. Beside that, it can be used in the creation of new products and the design of new tools. This technology can also help us in the improvement of the already existing tools and products. It can also be used to compare the dimensions of the created models with the CAD model.
In the medicine this technology finds its place in the area of plastic surgery. With the help of Reverse Engineering technology, identical parts of the human external body organs are made, which in case of an accident can be used as a replacement of the real one.
3D digitalization technology has also found its place in the field of deontology for creating of an artificial tooth or jaw identical to the real one.
For the orthopedic, this technology provides an opportunity to create ergonomic shoes which are made identical to the foot. This makes shoes more comfortable.
In the architecture and art, 3D digitalization technology is used during the design of tools for sculpture, in the making of copies of the important and latest inventions, in the making of big sculptures and monuments from the small models.
From everything we said, we can conclude that 3D digitalization technology is used everywhere and it can find its place in all areas. Some photographs will be given in the following text which will confirm and add to the above mentioned text.
